Spousal Sponsorships

Spousal, Same-Sex Partner, Common Law, or Children Sponsorship

If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you may be eligible to sponsor your spouse, partner, same-sex partner or dependent children to become permanent residents of Canada.

Eligibility Requirements:

These are some of the eligibility requirements in order to sponsor your partner or child.

Be 18 years of age or older.

Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (PR).

You cannot be recieving social assistance.

Promise to financially take care of the family members being sponsored for a period of 5 years after they become a PR in in Canada.

Parent - Grandparent Sponsorship

If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you may be eligible to sponsor your parents or grandparents to become permanent residents of Canada.

Sponsoring Parents

Eligibility Requirements:

Be 18 years of age or older.

Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living inside Canada.

Provide three years’ proof of income to demonstrate enough income to support your family, including the sponsored members.

Promise to financially take care of the family members being sponsored for a period of 5 years after they become a PR in in Canada.
